Book Title:
ARTHOR

Book Author:
A.A.Attanasio
Publisher: Sceptre
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Description/Review :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

  This is the second in a trilogy of Arthur stories. It was this book that had me hooked on any thing concerning Arthur and celtic Britain. I also recommend the first in the trilogy, The Dragon and the Unicorn, it's about a story of Uther and Igraine. Both very good reads!

Book Title:
GENGHIS LORDS OF THE BOW

Book Author:
Conn Iggluden
Publisher: Delacorte Press
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Description/Review :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

  This book is a must read for anyone who enjoys historical fiction. Iggluden takes you to the battle fields and you feel as if you are standing next to Genghis as he is giving orders, as he is riding across plains, as he uses his bow or slices through the flesh of his enemy with his sword. In the style of Cornwell, it's an unstoppable read. Looking foward to the next in the series.

Book Title:
LORD OF THE SILVER BOW

Book Author:
David Gemmel
Publisher: Black Swan
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Description/Review :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

  This is the first book in a series of three about the story of Troy and follows a number of characters, some famous, some not so, and is thoroughly entertaining. The exchanges between the soldiers throughout this book really bring it to life, with some really endearing characters.

Book Title:
WORLD WITHOUT END

Book Author:
Ken Follett
Publisher: Macmillan
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Description/Review :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

  This is not exactly a sequel to Pillars of the Earth because it occurs about 180 years later but it's set in Kingsbridge and concerns decendants of the original families. Carris and Merthin are the central characters and they live through many of the major events of the day including the Black Death, the war in France etc. The book show the power and hypocracy of the Medieval Church and the difficulties that ordinary people had in coping with life.

BRETHREN

Book Author:
Robyn Young
Publisher: Penguin Group 2006
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Description/Review :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

  What a great book. This is the story of a young Templar Knight named William Campbell. The story starts with William as a boy and goes into adulthood. The story takes the reader to many different places and introduces many memorable characters and leaves you yearning for more. The next book in the series, Crusade, is just as good. Highly recommended.

THE FALL OF ROME

Book Author:
Michael Curtis Ford
Publisher: Thomas Dunne Books
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Description/Review :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

  Very good story, takes place after the death of Attila the Hun. Tells the story of how his son not only conquers the roman army but avenges the theft of his father's burial site. Excellent read. Kept me interested from beginning to the end. I look forward too all Michael Curtis Ford's work. Right up there with Cornwell.

Book Title:
RUSSKA

Book Author:
Edward Rutherfurd
Publisher: Arrow Books Ltd.
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Description/Review :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

  A real jewel of a novel. If you love James Michener or have read Rutherfurd's Sarum, you will not be disappointed. This time, Rutherfurd takes on Russian history from A.D. 180 to the 20th century from the perspective of two small towns named Russka. As remarkable as the scope of the tale is, the individual chapters which trace family lineages with great story telling. This novel is both entertaining and highly educational if you're unfamiliar with Russian history. Give it a chance. You'll be well rewarded. I can well imagine James Michener smiling in heaven with approval for Edward Rutherfurd's superb effort. For my part, I put off reading this because I loved Sarum so much. I'm glad I didn't wait longer.

  I usually find academic reading to be dull and pedantic. However, this book is refreshingly easy to read. Plenty of primary sources.
