As romantic and frothy as they are suspenseful, still great fun, and I know for a fact that the author is a Sharpe fan.

His journey takes him all the way to the colonies which are on the brink of war. This book kept me reading until I had finished it in one sitting.

The second book, called Blood Ties, continues the story 19 years later when the executioner must dig up old bones that threaten the safety of Anne's daughter Elizabeth. The vow must still be honoured. This author has also written the Jack Absolute books. I recommend all three of those as well. Enjoy!

The story revolves around two main characters; Jamie and Claire. Claire is a 19th Century woman who has travelled back in time through a ring of standing stones in the highlands of Scotland to the same place but two hundred years earlier. Jamie becomes her husband and partner in adventures that see them travel from Scotland and Europe to the New World. The historical research is meticulous and the descriptions of places and characters are so detailed and fascinating you'd believe this was a true story!
